"Weekly" (yeah right)
Updates
Nov. 2nd - Working on the website - bear with me. The
patriotic front page is my way of saying that I feel really lucky to have the
freedoms that we tend to take for granted. I read about the women in Afghanistan
and I am just shocked that human rights are so non-existent for them! I
don't like the fact that we are at war - I don't think it's solving the
problems, and I hate to think of the innocent people who are dying over there
right now... kids too. But I also don't have the answers. I really
don't know what I'd do if I was president... do you?
I hope you are all safe and sound, and appreciating every
moment with friends and family - that's what's important.
Musically, I'm just playing gigs, trying to write and get some
music into film/TV - pluggin away :) :)
Peace, gail :)
I had the most amazing night
at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, opening up for DAVID CROSBY AND CPR.
:) Pat Simmons was my special guest and we played a whole acoustic set
together - I was soooo nervous, but it was soooo fun! Pat is such a good
guy, and awesome artist, and just being on the same stage as all the incredible
musicians that night was a total honor. David Crosby was really nice -
they were all humble, and kind and monster musicians! CPR harmonies
were amazing, and the energy of the night really was cool :) David Crosby's son,
James, is really gifted, Jeff Pavar is one the best guitar players in the world,
and the whole band just rocked! It goes into my book of favorite
moments!

Oct. 7th: So we're officially at war - and I'm so
sad! I was hoping for peaceful justice, ("You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one")... the world is so angry right now... I wonder
how God feels about what we're all doing down here..?
In the midst of all the horrible events, a blessing did come my
way this week... I get to open for David Crosby and his band CPR next Saturday
and NOW my friend Pat Simmons from the Doobie Brothers just told me he'd play
guitar with me! He's so humble and kind - it's amazing to me that he's
happy to come jam during the opening set... I mean he's been a major headliner
for his whole career! He just really loves to play and is so generous with
his talent. :)
It is special occasions like this help me get thru the toughest
days. I have noticed at gigs, that people really appreciate music more
than ever now. We all feel so helpless, and so scared right now... I'm
listening to a lot of John Lennon these days.
My good friend Kristy Jackson wrote an amazing song called
"Little Did She Know (She'd
Kissed A Hero)" - a dedication to the Heroes on flight #93.
If you'd like to download an mp3 of this incredible song, please go here.
She is donating $ to the victims family if the song generates any income.
Kristy is an angel with good strong faith and a heart of gold. She's my
mentor in the music business too, and when you hear this song, you'll see
why.
Sept. 18th: I'm trying to stay hopeful... I am so totally
wrecked by the recent horrific tragedy and my heart aches for all the victims
and families. It's so hard to "go on" when it feels like the
world should just stop and take a break... Music does seem to be a saving grace,
and at the Willie show last weekend, it was really cool how he lifted everyone
up for a few hours. I hope you're all doing all right - I'm going to the
mainland for a week, so if anything happens, just know that I love you all and
appreciate how supportive you are! I totally support a peaceful world, and
I don't believe that "WAR" will solve anything... I want the people
responsible to be brought to justice, but I do not want any more innocent
victims. I recently heard the phrase "An eye for an eye will leave
the world blind" and I believe it's true. Stay safe and tell your friends
and family how much you love them!
Love, gail
Aug. 13th: WOW that was a long "week" - sorry
for the sporadic updates :) The TOUR was a blast! Thanks so much to all my
friends to came to the mainland shows :) Also, thanks for buying so many of the
new CD! I really appreciate it! I'm back to work at Cheeseburger in
Paradise - if you're on Maui, please check my website schedule for gigs and come
say HI :) As usual I'm always trying to expand my fan mailing list, so if
you have friends who you've played my cd's for and they wanna be on the list,
please have them email me :) gswan0628@aol.com.
Till the next time, PEACE! :) Love, gail :)
